As gevolg van hulle kennis, is die geeste van Mercurius meer trots as ander, waardeur hulle vertel was, alhoewel hulle ontelbare dinge weet, is daar tog oneindige dinge wat hulle nie weet nie, en as hulle kennis sou vergroot tot in alle ewigheid, sal die kennis van alle algemene dinge tog onbereikbaar wees. En so was hulle ook vertel oor hulle trots en verblyding van die denke en dat dit onbetaamlik is, maar hulle antwoord, dit is nie trots nie, maar slegs `n verheerliking deur die rede van die aanlegte van die geheue, dus was hulle in staat om `n verskoning te vind vir hulle tekortkominge.
