Chapter 3
Susanna Elizabeth Scheepers
It were the days of rejoicing after the Great Trek. Everyone was already established on their farms and there was a certain unity among the nation. It was the beginning of the Boer Nation of South Africa. Everyone was grateful for the piece of land which they have received after the hardship they had to endure on the long road. There was a certain woman with the names Susanna Elizabeth Scheepers. She was a courageous Boer-woman with a pure heart and a strong mind. She seeked Me daily in the quiet of nature under an old blue gum tree. Susanna was always up early and busy before the first cock would crow. She took her horse into the mountains daily, because she meant to find Me in the quiet and loneliness. Her longing for Me was great, because she had a happy childhood, because her parental home was God-fearing and full of My praise. I have saved them from immense dangers of which nobody can think because they themselves have not experienced it. The descendants of the trekkers have much to be thankful for. But back to Susanna.
One morning she rode her horse in the direction of the dense Magaliesberg, when a leopard jumped from behind onto her horse’s flank. In her fear and despair she had only one thought and it was Me. She thought that she was going to enter into eternity and will finally meet Me, her Creator. Not totally against dying, but still humanly full of fear. Susanne shouted thoroughly to Me and raised her hands up to Me with the leopard still behind her on the horse who started to stumble. From the blue light a beam came which struck the leopard and it was lying on the ground as if dead. But the leopard still breathed and bewildered Susanna stood and wondered when it will jump up again. Her horse was wounded minimally and slowly she returned home with a song of praise in her heart, greater than before. On arrival at the house she told her family members what had happened.
Her eldest brother Daniel immediately went back to fetch the skin. When he got there, there was no sign of the leopard, but the fresh marks were still clearly visible. A certain time thereafter is was told of a leopard that was seen wanting to steal a sheep. The man who saw it, reported a leopard with three short stumps that tried to catch an easy prey. Needless to say they immediately knew that it was Susanna’s leopard. The leopard struggled on for days until it reached Susanna’s farm. There it collapsed one night on the front porch of their house. Susanna was carried away in the love for her Creator Who protected her so faithfully.
Therefore it is necessary to praise Me day and night. To love Me each day from the depth of your heart so that I can make the enemies a footrest to your feet.
Only your Creator. Always.
Amen
